Govt invites opposition to inspect electronic voting machine's model

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – As a practical demonstration of casting vote by electronic machine was given on Wednesday, the federal government invited the opposition to inspect the model.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry held a press conference along with Adviser to the PM on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan and said consensus is required over electoral reforms, therefore, all parties should sit together and take a unanimous decision.

Fawad Chaudhry said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are not willing to leave the old system based on slips. He said the biggest problem after polling is untimely result. All 36 conditions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) concerning electronic voting machine have been fulfilled, he added.

Babar Awan said the incumbent government is taking steps to remove flaws from the electoral system and gave right to vote to the overseas Pakistanis. He also invited the opposition to inspect the model of electronic voting machine and ensured to give answers of the opposition’s questions over the matter.
