Shehbaz Sharif tells Hamza not to comment on PPP tussle

LAHORE (Dunya News) - PML-N President Mian Shehbaz Sharif has told Hamza Shehbaz not to partake in the ongoing war of words between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz, along with his family, met Shehbaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail for more than two and a half hours. The two discussed the appointment of Yousaf Raza Gillani as opposition leader in the Senate and the current political situation.

Hamza apprised Shehbaz of the unease in the party over the appointment of Yousaf Raza Gillani as opposition leader, saying that PPP did not take PML-N into confidence on this issue. It was decided to protest PPP’s move in the next PDM meeting while Shehbaz Sharif told Hamza Shehbaz not to make any public statement against PPP.

Shehbaz Sharif directed that senior party leaders should take up the issue of Yousaf Raza Gillani in the PDM.

On the other hand, Shehbaz welcomed the restoration of local bodies in Punjab by the Supreme Court and directed Hamza to expedite contacts with local body representatives.

Shehbaz said that meetings and conventions with the local body representatives should be arranged immediately, adding that local body representatives are the main force of PML-N. In the current political situation, they should be provided legal and political assistance by the party.
