ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has on Thursday resumed its flight operation for Swat’s Saidu Sharif Airport after seventeen years – continuing the journey from terrorism to tourism.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Communications and Postal Services Minister Murad Saeed travelled in the PIA flight from Islamabad to Swat. A cake was cut at the Islamabad airport before departure.
Mahmood Khan planted a sapling at the Saidu Sharif Airport under the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project. Special attention is being paid to increase economic activities in the Northern areas to promote tourism. Flight services at airports of Skardu, Gilgit and Chitral were earlier restored.
