Objection raised on Pervaiz Rashid's appeal against rejection of nomination papers

Pervaiz Rashid has said that he is ready to submit amount on the objection raised by the commission.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) registrar office on Friday has raised objection over the appeal of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Pervaiz Rashid filed against the decision of rejecting his nomination papers for the Senate elections.

The registrar office has directed the PML-N leader to attach Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) verified documents with his appeal. Pervaiz Rashid has said that he is ready to submit amount on the objection raised by the commission.

The development came day after ECP had rejected the nomination papers of Pervaiz Rashid submitted for the Senate polls.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while recording objections over the candidacy of Pervaiz Rashid, told that the PML-N leader had filed his nomination papers for general seat, however, he had also mentioned about the technocrat seat in his affidavit.

PML-N candidate had provided misleading statements in his details. He was found guilty in a case pertaining to leaking the secrets of institutions, the PTI representative stated.  

It is to be mentioned here that a total of 170 candidates had filed their nomination papers in the ECP for the elections on 48 seats in the upper house of the Parliament. 29 candidates from Punjab, 39 from Sindh, 51 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 41 from Balochistan and 10 from the federal capital Islamabad had submitted their details.

As per schedule, the candidates can file appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers till February 20 and the last date for disposing of these appeals is February 23.

The revised list of candidates will be published on February 24. The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on February 25.

Polling on 48 seats will be held on the 3rd of next month at the Parliament house in Islamabad and the four provincial assemblies.
