Cabinet approves 25 pc increase in salaries of federal govt employees

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Federal Cabinet has approved a 25 percent increase in the salaries of the employees of the Federal Government including complete restoration of all economic activities from March 1.

According to details, federal cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, the meeting was briefed on the Coronavirus situation in the country.

The cabinet was informed that the number and spread of coronavirus cases in the country are declining. Corona vaccine is being administered to frontline workers. So far, about 50,000 frontline workers have been vaccinated and the process is being accelerated.

The Cabinet was informed that 1166 number have been provided for persons above 65 years of age where they can register their identity cards for vaccination.

The Cabinet was informed that barriers have been removed for the private sector to import vaccine adding that from March 1, all economic activities will be fully restored.

The Prime Minister sought progress in granting voting rights to overseas Pakistanis and installation of electronic voting machines.

The Prime Minister said that the present government was committed to making the electoral process fully transparent. The Prime Minister directed the Electoral Reforms Committee to identify all the administrative steps required for the installation of electronic voting machines in consultation with the President of Pakistan and to set timelines in this regard.

The Prime Minister said that ensuring full transparency of the electoral process was the top priority of the present government.

On the issue of enforced disappearances, the Cabinet reiterated that the present government firmly believes in full transparency and rule of law.

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed that the process of bringing law in Parliament in this regard be expedited. The Cabinet took stern notice of the incidents of sexual crimes and expressed concern over the reports in this regard and directed that the implementation of laws and measures be taken to prevent these crimes.

The Cabinet appreciated the law passed by the present government to give women right in the inherited property and directed that the process of enacting a law on speedy resolution of property issues of Pakistanis abroad should be expedited.

The Cabinet was also briefed on the progress made so far regarding the recovery of government lands from the land mafia. The Cabinet was also briefed on the progress regarding the functioning of the Islamabad Metro Bus Project.

The Cabinet approved a 25 percent Disparity Reduction Allowance to reduce the gap in the salaries of the employees of various departments of the Federal Government and to provide relief to the government employees. The increase will take effect from March 1.

At the same time, the cabinet decided that the provincial governments would also be directed to take steps to reduce the pay gap in their departments.

The Cabinet was informed that time scale promotion is being given in grades one to sixteen on the pattern of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Ad hoc Relief Allowance would be incorporated in the basic pay from July 1, the real benefit of which would be available to pensioners.
