ECP proposes March 2, 3 or 4 as date for Senate election

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has prepared a schedule for the upcoming Senate election, proposing 2, 3 and 4 March as the possible dates.

The schedule will be released by the Election Commission after final approval.

The nomination process will begin immediately after the election schedule is released. Sources said the government had tried to hold Senate elections in February.

The ECP had earlier made available the nomination papers for Senate elections and announced that the electoral program would be issued on February 11.

An Election Commission of Pakistan spokesperson had said that the Senate elections cannot be held before February 10.

The spokesperson further said that the Senate polls are generally held in the first week of March and the ECP will issue date according to the law on appropriate time.
