Agreement signed to pay dues of 46 IPPs: Asad Umar
The committee gave preliminary approval to pay Rs 403 billion dues to the IPPs.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umer on Monday said that agreement has been signed to pay dues of 46 Independent Power Producers (IPPs), Dunya News reported.
A meeting of the cabinet committee on energy was held under the chairmanship of Asad Umar during which the agreement was signed to pay the dues of 46 out of 47 IPPs.
The committee gave preliminary approval to pay Rs 403 billion dues to the IPPs. The final approval to pay dues will be taken from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and then from the Cabinet.
The last governments, he said had made expensive agreements with the IPPs. He said a commission would look into the matter regarding payment to power companies.
