Rumpus erupts in NA after opposition stages protest
The opposition parties gathered around the rostrum of assembly speaker
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A rumpus on Thursday has erupted in National Assembly (NA) after opposition parties staged protest during the speech of Federal Minister for Power, Petroleum and Natural Resources Omar Ayub Khan.
According to details, the opposition parties gathered around the rostrum of deputy speaker Qasim Suri and chanted slogans.
The reaction came after Omar Ayub alleged previous governments of spreading landmines in power sector. He said that the action against those responsible for electricity theft in Sindh was halted.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi speaks in NA
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said he does not want to reveal what happened overnight that the opposition retreated from tendering resignations.
The foreign minister said the opposition’s conduct is violating the sanctity of the parliament, and those who came as a result of horse-trading cannot defend the federation and the constitution.
Shah Mahmood said, “These members will only plunder money. Votes were sold in the last Senate elections as well and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had suspended membership of its twenty representatives.
“PTI was in minority when Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had also conducted debate over the issue of open balloting. We want to change this outdated system and introduce a new one.
Raja Pervez Ashraf addresses NA session
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that ‘sugar thieves’ want to table amendment in the constitution despite lacking numbers in the parliament.
He claimed that even members of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not vote for their party and even ministers have taken ‘advance’.
He while requesting Deputy Speaker to remove guards from around his dice, said that opposition is peaceful. The PPP leader also complained abusive language used against fellow lawmaker Naveed Qamar for lodging a protest.
The former prime minister urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to not listen to flatterers as such people also caused harmed to Nawaz Sharif, Pervaiz Musharraf and Chaudhry brothers.
The PPP leader alleged that the incumbent government sold Kashmir. He further said that opposition wants to discuss issues of national importance but unfortunately inexperienced government lawmakers are disturbing the environment of the house.
Fawad Chaudhry speaks in NA
Meanwhile, Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry told opposition parties are only worried about cases against them. Prime Minister Imran Khan wont give National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to any one at any cost, he clarified.
Fawad Chaudhry further said that the protests of opposition parties have no standard and strategy. The leader of thieves is sitting in London, he added.
The minister also told that Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority ensures checking quality of thirty-nine food and other consumers in the country as per international guidelines, practices and national standards.
He said pharmaceutical products are not in legal purview of PSQCA and relevant authorities are mandated to control manufacturers of substandard pharmaceutical products.
Murad Saeed addresses NA session
On the other hand, Minister for Communication Murad Saeed said that opposition leaders only give new deadlines for resignations to PM Imran but they never act on them. These thieves will not get NRO from the premier, he stated.
The minister also said that National Highway Authority (NHA) has planned to establish Emergency Response Centre on its network in a phased programme for emergency relief first aid medical services to accident victims and needy locals.
Asad Umar speaks to NA
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that opposition is misleading the people with its bogus stance. In past, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) used to hurl allegations against each other, he added.
The minister said that democracy cannot prevail when lawmakers become corrupt. Government lands are being illegally occupied, he went on to say.
