PML-N demands Justice(r) Azmat Saeed to step down as head of Broadsheet Inquiry Committee

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has demanded the appointment of a non-controversial person as the head of the Broadsheet Inquiry Committee and asked Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed to step down from his position.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed should not become the head of the Broadsheet Inquiry Committee.

The PML-N leader also raised the objection that Justice(r) Azmat Saeed is also a member of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital board.

He demanded an open hearing of the case and said that the people would decide for themselves whether it was the politicians who were corrupt or those who made billions by making such deals. “We will continue to highlight how attempts to brand politicians as corrupt in the public eye began during the Musharraf era”, he added.

He alleged that the institution which came to stop the so-called corruption in the country was itself involved in corruption, to protect which a commission headed by Azmat Saeed was formed. He said the government has appointed its own ministers in the commission.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the incumbent government is the most corrupt in Pakistans history, with every job in the Punjab government having a price. Today everything including electricity, gas, flour and sugar is expensive; ministers hold press conferences but do not talk about their failures, said the former PM.
