Will personally go to UK for Nawaz Sharif's return if required: PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he could talk to his British counterpart Boris Johnson for Nawaz Sharif’s return and if required, he would personally go to the UK as well.

In an interview to a private TV channel, PM Imran Khan said the government had asked the Lahore High Court to allow Nawaz Sharif’s departure against bonds of Rs 7 billion but the court disagreed and settled for Shehbaz Sharif’s guarantee instead.

The Prime Minister said that if need be, he would talk to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and if he has to go to London to bring Nawaz Sharif back, he would do that also.

Imran Khan said that he is ready to talk with the opposition about everything, including the election, but he will not give an NRO. The PM said that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa informed him of opposition members coming to meet him. He said that he thinks General Bajwa meeting with opposition members was a mistake.

Regarding the opposition, he said that these people come to power to build factories, properties and to reward their own families. The country sank into debt due to the corruption of former rulers, he added.

The Prime Minister said that the biggest challenge for us is to get the indebted country back on its feet. Our focus is on the welfare of the poor and ensuring rule of law, as it was in the state of Medina.

Imran Khan said that not only Nawaz Sharif but also Ishaq Dar has run away from accountability. I do not mind that the opposition criticizes me, their one point agenda is to pressurize me into letting them go free, he said.

The Prime Minister said that banks will be made to provide loans for houses at 5% interest. If the interest rates go up dramatically, they will provide loans for houses at 7% interest and vice versa if interest rate comes down.
