Shehbaz Sharif will be treated like ordinary inmate at Kot Lakhpat Jail: Home Department
Shehbaz Sharif has been sent to Kot Lakhpat Jail on 14-day judicial remand.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – After an accountability court in Lahore Tuesday sent Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif to the Kot Lakhpat Jail on 14-day judicial remand, the Punjab Home Department said he will be treated like an ordinary inmate.
According to details, Shehbaz Sharif will be kept in barrack number 2 and will only be allotted separate room, bed, table lamp and other facilities after approval of Class B according to the Pakistan Prisons Rules, 1978.
It is pertinent here to mention that an accountability court in Lahore had sent Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif to the Kot Lakhpat Jail on 14-day judicial remand.
According to details, the court conducted hearing on the money laundering case against the PML-N president who maintained that he had already given all details to the National Accountability Bureau on October 26, 2018 and the questionnaire is old.
Shehbaz Sharif said the arguments of the anti-graft body’s investigation officer are contrary to facts to which the official replied that interrogations in 2018 were conducted of the Ashiana Housing Scheme and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.
Let it be known that the court had extended physical remand of Shehbaz Sharif till October 20 during the previous hearing.
On the other hand, the Punjab Home Department has said the PML-N president will be treated like an ordinary inmate at the Kot Lakhpat Jail.
