Punjab govt approves measures to control inflation

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Government of Punjab has approved important measures to control inflation in the province and a daily performance report will be sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

As per details, the provincial government has decided to increase wheat quota of flour mills by an additional 2,000 metric tonnes per day and the wheat release will be gradually increased to 21,000 metric tonnes per day as compared to present wheat supply of 17,000 metric tonnes.

It was also decided to form inspection committees, comprising of relevant ministers, secretaries and district officers, across Punjab to control prices and supply of flour.

Regarding role of Tiger Force, government has decided to use the volunteer force as third party which will not take direct action but will give their feedback to government through an app.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, also decided to strictly monitor supply of wheat to flour mills and take strict action against hoarding. The government warned that any kind of corruption and negligence by officers and others will not be tolerated.

Authorities will also ensure that official rate lists of food items are displayed and Assistant Commissioner of the areas violating official rate lists will be removed from the office.

CM Usman Buzdar said that the people expect the government to control the prices and assured that the government will meet the expectations of the people and strict legal action will be taken against the perpetrators of artificial inflation.
