ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The hearing against former president Asif Ali Zardari and erstwhile prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Yousaf Raza Gillani in the Toshakhana reference has been postponed till October 1.

Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel Farooq H Naik appeared before the court and filed application seeking exemption for his client’s appearance. The lawyer raised objection that he was not informed about the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) witness.

Farooq H Naik requested the court to record statements of witnesses today and allow cross-examination in next hearing. NAB prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar said statements and cross-examination of witnesses will be conducted one by one.

Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel also objected against hearing of the case on daily basis and maintained that it will be a security risk if the erstwhile president appears before the court regularly.

Judge Asghar Ali directed Farooq H Naik to not waste the court’s time and stressed that the decision to conduct hearing on daily basis will not be taken according to his demand.
