PEMRA warns cable operators against airing Indian content
The regulatory authority has directed all cable operators to strictly abide by the rules
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Tuesday directed cable operators to air licensed Pakistani channels and content instead of airing illegal Indian channels.
On instructions of PEMRA Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig, PEMRA Regional General Manager, Karachi Shiraz Asghar Sheikh has started crackdown against those cable operators who were involved in violations.
Operation team of Karachi Regional Office, headed by Shiraz Asghar Sheikh conducted surprise inspections on various cable operators of Karachi.
Operation team seized ten satellite receivers, two internet devices, two CPUs, six modulators and two transmitters from Korangi Bilal Colony for broadcasting illegal Indian channels and content.
The regulatory authority has directed all cable operators to strictly abide by the rules or action will be taken in accordance with the law.
