Another polio case surfaces in Balochistan

With the new case, the number of polio cases in Balochistan in the current year has reached 19.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – One more polio case has been reported in Qila Saifullah District in Balochistan province on Friday where one-year-old boy was found positive for the disease, Dunya News reported.

According to Balochistan Health Department, blood sample of one-year-old boy was sent for testing and the result shows that he is affected by polio virus. With the new case, the number of polio cases in the province in the current year has reached 19.

Sources also informed that this was the first case reported in Qila Saifullah. Earlier, polio cases were reported from Quetta, Pishin, Zhob, Qila Abdullah, Jhal Magsi and Chaghi.

Despite the polio campaigns and government efforts, polio is not being eradicated from Pakistan whereas it has been globally eliminated except Pakistan and Afghanistan.
