Wife of Motorway rape prime suspect Abid Ali arrested
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Police have arrested the wife of Abid Ali, the prime suspect in the Lahore motorway gang-rape incident. She and Abid had escaped authorities when they made an attempt to arrest Abid in Sheikhupura.
According to police sources, the arrested woman, Bushra is a resident of tehsil Tandlianwala, district Faisalabad and her marriage to Abid was her second one.
She has four children from her first marriage and one daughter from her marriage with Abid. The daughter is in police custody after the parents abandoned her while escaping Police.
On the other hand, Abid Ali is still at large as the Punjab Police have handed over the task of arresting him to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
The CTD has been involved in the case after the authorities failed in nabbing Abid Ali despite use of latest technology. The Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) Police also remained unsuccessful. However, investigation is ongoing from arrested suspect Shafqat in jail.
Sources privy to the matter have informed that Abid Ali’s ID card has been blocked. The police have maintained that the step is taken in order to stop the accused from fleeing abroad.
