Prime suspect Abid Ali will soon be in custody: Raja Basharat
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Law Minister Punjab Raja Basharat, while talking about the motorway rape incident, has expressed hope that the central suspect of the incident, Abid Ali, will soon be in police custody.
Talking to Dunya News, he said that Shafqat, Abid’s accomplice in the crime, has been arrested and he has confessed to the crime, giving us a clear lead.
Raja Basharat said that Shafqat’s arrest came about due to the hard work of Lahore police, the remaining task is not that difficult. Soon, we will get to the main suspect Abid, he added.
Replying to a question, the Punjab Law Minister said that we have to complete the challan of this case soon, we are taking steps to get the criminals punished according to the law. He said that there is no need for new legislation, the required laws already exist, it’s just a matter of enforcement.
He said that if the criminals do not get punished or there is a delay in justice, it would encourage their kind. He vowed that those who commit such heinous crimes will be given exemplary punishment.
