Senate Human Rights Committee summons IG Punjab over Lahore motorway rape
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Senate’s Human Rights Committee has taken notice of the heinous crime that took place with a woman on Lahore motorway and has summoned Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police.
Notices have been issued to IG Punjab Inam Ghani and the Ministry of Communications in this regard. The important meeting of the Senate Human Rights Committee will be held on September 14.
Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar will chair the meeting and IG Punjab and Secretary Communications will give a briefing on the incident.
The notice has asked why no action was taken on the distress call made by the victim to the motorway police and has sought a detailed briefing on the incident by IG Punjab and Secretary Communications.
