Sindh govt can't be entrusted with Karachi transformation plan funds: Shibli Faraz
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz has said that Karachi’s Administrator, Pakistan Army, Corps Commander Karachi and NDMA will implement the Karachi Transformation Plan. The truth is that we cannot entrust the Sindh government with these funds, he said.
Talking to media in Islamabad, the Federal Minister for Information said that out of Rs 1100 billion allocated for Karachi, Rs 254 billion was earmarked for cleaning drains and encroachments.
He further said that K4 will cost Rs 46 billion and circular railway Rs 300 billion. Some projects will be completed in one, some in two years, he added.
The Senator said that Karachi is the country’s economic hub which is why the Prime Minister gave such a package in good faith. He said the incompetence of Sindh government was on full display in the recent rains. There is a lack of trust in Sindh and the federal governments and the provincial government is responsible for it. NFC award’s funds are nowhere to be seen in Sindh, he said.
Shibli Faraz said that when an agreement is reached, both parties should refrain from making irresponsible statements, in fact, the Sindh government should show act more responsibly.
He said that despite limited resources, we will complete these projects and do all that is necessary for the people of Sindh and Karachi by working with consensus.
Talking about PML-N, the Federal Minister for Information said that it has a habit of thumping its chest in public but becoming the polar opposite when faced with NAB. Shahid Khaqan should respond to the allegations against him on a private channel instead of hurling abuses at the government. “Our government is not busy making illegal money, those days are gone”, he said.
Regarding FATF, the Federal Minister said that we are not concerned about the FATF laws not being passed, opposition parties will surely comply. Ahsan Iqbal should tell the people why Pakistan went on the gray list as they were the ones who laundered money out of the country, he said.
