DG ISI, Corps Commander Karachi attend meeting chaired by PM

KARACHI (Dunya News) - A high level meeting on the situation in Karachi was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday. The meeting was also attended by Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and Corps Commander Karachi.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of both the provincial and federal governments.

The attendees included Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, DG ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed and Corps Commander Karachi Lt Gen Humayun Aziz.

Federal Ministers Shibli Faraz, Asad Umar, Syed Ali Zaidi, Amin ul Haq, Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah and other senior officials also attended the meeting. The PM was given a detailed briefing on the Karachi Transformation Plan and he assured of all possible assistance from the federal government in addressing the widespread loss due to recent rains in the city.

Addressing the meeting, PM Imran Khan said that Karachi is not only the most important city but also the economic hub of Pakistan. Its problems can only be solved through mutual cooperation, he added.

Imran Khan said that he was pleased that both federal and provincial governments as well as Pak army are endeavoring to solve the problems of Karachi.

Later in the day, a delegation of Karachi’s business community called on PM Imran Khan. The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh, ministers and prominent businessmen. The business community expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by PM Imran Khan regarding Karachi.

The delegation said that the recent initiatives of the government were proving to be beneficial for the business community and hoped for further improvement with implementation of the Karachi Transformation Package.

PM Imran Khan welcomed the positive feedback from the business community and said the government is ready to take more steps for the development of the city.

The Prime Minister said that the business community plays a key role in the development of any country and it is imperative that the government provides them with all facilities, a top priority of the incumbent government.

He said that a coordinated policy was adopted to deal with the pandemic as it was necessary to protect the public from the disease as well as ensure the smooth running of the economy. The development of construction and related sectors will create employment opportunities. The government’s aim is to bring automation to the business and investment system, he added.
