Petrol price likely to be hiked by Rs 8 from September

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed to increase the prices of petroleum products from September 1, sources said on Saturday.

According to sources, it has been proposed to increase the price of petrol by Rs 8 and diesel by Rs 8 per liter. OGRA has also proposed an increase in prices of kerosene and light diesel oil.

OGRA has reportedly suggested increasing petrol levy to Rs 30 per liter as opposed to the current levy of Rs 26.70 per liter.

The current price of diesel includes Rs 25.73 rupees per liter of petroleum levy. If the government decides against increasing the current rate of petroleum levy, the price of petrol and diesel will increase by Rs 3.75.

The final decision regarding the fortnightly revision in prices of petroleum products will be taken by the Finance Ministry in consultation with the Prime Minister before the start of September.
