Sharif and Omni groups took sugar subsidies worth billions: Dr Shahbaz Gill
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill has said that Sharif and Omni groups have received billions of rupees in subsidies in five years.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan conducted an inquiry without caring about political gain or loss and caught those responsible for secretly robbing the nation.
Reacting to the press conference of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Murtaza Wahab, Dr Shahbaz Gill said that the federal government did not give any subsidy on sugar but in the last five years a subsidy of Rs 29 billion was given on sugar by provinces.
He said that out of the Rs 29 billion, Rs 26.5 billion was given by previous governments meaning the present Punjab government has only given a subsidy of Rs 2.4 billion.
He said that apart from sugar, there are many scandals of the former ruling elite that are about to be exposed. He vowed that all those involved in the sugar scandal will be prosecuted without any discrimination.
