Many members did not wear masks or adhere to social distancing directives

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Many Members of Parliament including Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Amjad Niazi and Sheikh Rohail Asghar ignored precautionary SOPs against coronavirus during the special National Assembly Session by not wearing masks or adhering to social distancing directives given by the Deputy Speaker.

Deputy Speaker Qasim Soori warned members for neglecting SOPs asking female parliamentarians to maintain social distancing and wear masks. He said that members should be seated at a distance from each other and they should leave the assembly premises if they want to engage in personal conversations.

Speaking earlier about Covid-19 precautions at the special session, Deputy Speaker said that all arrangements were complete and parliamentarians are being tested for coronavirus in parliament house and lodges.

He also said that a digital machine has been installed at the Parliament’s entry which takes temperature reading of the members and also notifies if someone is not wearing a mask. Moreover, all members will be provided masks, gloves and sanitizers on entry in National Assembly Hall.

He made it clear to the members that only Covid-19 would be discussed during the session and parties would provide names of the members willing to speak.
