LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Thursday said that decision has been taken to make Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) functional until today (Friday) and those who attacked the hospital will be dealt as per law.

Speaking exclusively to Dunya News, he said that he has ordered to renovate the hospital, adding that decision to hold meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on daily basis has been taken until the situation becomes normal.

Buzdar went on to say that important decision had been taken in yesterday’s meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order.

The Punjab CM said that the security SOPs will be reviewed to prevent such incidents in future. “I was in the National Assembly yesterday and canceled all the engagement and reached Lahore after being informed of the incident.”

CM Buzdar said the provincial government has decided to pay the damages to the private people and cheques would be distributed to the victims till Friday evening, while compensation cheques would also be given to the heirs of those killed in the incident.

The chief minister said those who attacked the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore will not escape punishment as vandalism at the hospital is beyond bearing.

“Inquiry has been initiated of the unfortunate incident in which lawyers attacked the PIC and committed the worst act by torturing patients and their relatives,” he said.

The CM expressed condolences to the families of three patients who lost their lives owing to the violent clash between lawyers and hospital staff. He stressed that identification process of the suspects has been initiated with the help of CCTV footages.
