Blast in rickshaw injures 10 in Lahore

LAHORE (Dunya News) – At least 10 people were injured in an explosion that occurred in a rickshaw in the provincial capital’s Chaubrji area on Friday.

According to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials, the explosion was carried out by time device leaving 10 persons including the driver of the rickshaw injured. All of the injured were walking near the rickshaw at the time of the blast.

The victims were shifted to nearby hospital for medical assistance.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials said the rickshaw had around two kilogrammes of explosive material, adding that ball bearings were also found near the crime scene.

Meanwhile, a case of the incident has also been lodged under the provisions of attempt to murder and terrorism while Rangers personnel have cordoned off the entire area for investigation.

SSP Civil Lines stated that the rickshaw driver, in his statement, said that he had picked up a ride from the city’s Sherakot area and dropped it in the Samanabad area. He added the blast took place when he had gone to use the facilities.

While taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar summoned report from Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and directed best medical treatment for the affectees.

He has also pledged to take stern action against the culprits.
