SUKKUR (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman retired justice Javed Iqbal said on Thursday that taking mega corruption cases to their logical conclusion "is the bureau s highest priority."

“Recovery of the looted money to [the national exchequer] from the corrupt people is the NAB’s top priority,” he said, while addressing the NAB officers of Sukkur headquarters.

Mr Iqbal reviewed performance of the regional accountability watchdog and acknowledged that the Sukkur office of the bureau has played a critical role in enhancing overall performance of the bureau.

“NAB Sukkur s performance under the supervision of NAB DG Irfan Baig is outstanding,” he said, while urging the officers to double their efforts for improvement.

“In the last 23 months, 600 references have been filed in [different] accountability courts and in this span, Rs71 billion were recovered and deposited into the national exchequer,” he said, adding that the department has been strictly following the policy of “accountability for all”.
