Nawaz to be shifted to Sharif Medical Complex or Ittefaq Hospital after bails in NAB cases
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Following his bails in Al-Azizia and Chaudhry Sugar Mills cases on medical grounds, Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is likely to be shifted to Sharif Medical Complex or Ittefaq Hospital for proper treatment.
Currently, Nawaz Sharif is under treatment at Lahore’s Services Hospital where his platelet count is recorded at 30,000.
Earlier while talking to media, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that Nawaz Sharif had suffered a minor heart attack but his heart muscles were not damaged. “The ex-PM is satisfied from the treatment being given to him,” she concluded.
On October 21, Nawaz Sharif was rushed to the hospital after his platelets dropped to a dangerously low level with his doctors raising alarming concerns.
Dr Adnan Khan, a personal physician of Sharif, had informed about his deteriorating health, urging the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government to immediately shift him to the hospital for treatment.
Later, incarcerated former PM was diagnosed with acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a disorder that leads to an abrupt and sharp drop in blood platelets, according to a medical board.
Keeping in view the health condition of the ex-premier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted bails to him in Al-Azizia reference and Chaudhry Sugar Mills case apiece.
Sharif was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference on 24 December 2018. Rs1.5 billion and US $25 million fine, a disqualification of 10 years from holding any public office was part of the sentences awarded to the former premier.
