Nation, Parliament on same page over Kashmir dispute: FM Qureshi

Qureshi said Pakistan has played an important role for peace.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that the whole nation and parliament were on the same platform over Kashmir dispute.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that the representatives of all political parties attended the meeting today, adding that the meeting discussed matters pertaining to Kashmir dispute’s historical background, present situation and future strategy.

The foreign minister said that the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) has been tense for teh last many months as the Indian occupation forces continue to violate human rights.

“Despite having a large number of army personnel in the Valley, the Indian government was still deputing more forces,” he said.

Qureshi went on to say that Pakistan has played an important role for peace but India tried aggression against Pakistan after Pulwama incident.

Speaking on the occasion, Kashmir Committee Chairman Syed Fakhar Imam said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked US President Donald Trump to mediate in the longstanding Kashmir conflict with Pakistan.

He said that everyone in India was in uproar over Trump s claim that PM Narendra Modi asked him to mediate the Kashmir conflict but he [Modi] didn’t issue denial.
