Mansehra landsliding: Concerned depts ignored weather advisory, reveals PDMA report

PDMA told that connecting roads in Naran and other adjoining areas have been blocked.

MANSEHRA (Dunya News) – Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Monday has released report on the land sliding in Mansehra and held concerned departments responsible for the disastrous condition.

In the report, the PDMA revealed that the relevant departments ignored weather advisory and didn’t take any precautionary measures to handle the alarming situation.

The report suggested to establish strong communication system, use of social media and radio to inform the people about weather conditions in order to prevent such incidents in the future.

It also recommended to take help from traffic police stations.

PDMA told that connecting roads in Naran and other adjoining areas have been blocked, stranding large number of tourists in the valley.  

Meanwhile, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated that widespread rains/wind-thunderstorm is expected in Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, SH.Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana divisions), while at scattered places in Makran, Kalat, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Faislabad, Rawalpindi, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, at isolated places in Sahiwal, Zhob divisions and Islamabad.
