Bench hearing Agha Siraj Durrani's bail plea dissolved for second time

Justice Saleem Jaisar has refused to hear Agha Siraj's bail plea.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The bench that was hearing bail plea of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani has been dissolved for second time today (Tuesday).

Accoridng to details, Sindh High Court (SHC) judge Justice Saleem Jaisar has refused to hear the plea after which, the bench dissolved. The matter has been forwarded to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) for further development.

Earlier, Justice KK Agha had excused himself from hearing the issue.

It is to be mentioned here an accountability court in Karachi had reserved verdict on assets beyond means case against Agha Siraj Durrani.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor said that it was proved during the investigation that Durrani was involved in corruption of Rs 1.61 billion with aid of his family and workers.

The speaker was arrested on Feb 20 from a hotel in Islamabad and was brought to Karachi the same night. On Feb 21, he was produced before the accountability court that sent him on a 14-day physical remand.

On Mar 11, the court extended his physical remand till Mar 21 as the NAB prosecutor pleaded with the court for more time for investigation.

The court was told that his property valued at Rs27 million had been found in Abbottabad but he disclosed its value at around Rs4m.

The officer also told that his bungalow worth Rs40m was found in DHA and 10 luxury watches were also recovered in his bank locker in addition to gold, foreign currency and other valuables.
