Federal capital's healthcare system to be upgraded: Dr Zafar
Government striving hard to improve health facilities for the masses.
ISLAMABAD (APP) – Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Zafar Mirza on Friday said the entire healthcare system of the federal capital would be upgraded in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
During a surprise visit to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the minister said the incumbent government was determined to bring about promised reforms in the health sector.
He added that the government was striving hard to improve health facilities for the masses.
Dr Zafar said special attention was being paid to improving patient care in PIMS that was catering bulk of patients not only from the capital but from other parts of the country. He said the government would make PIMS a model hospital and revamp its services.
The minister said that the government was committed to ensure provision of best medical services to the country’s people. He said that the government was also striving towards universal health coverage in order to ensure access of quality medical facilities for all. He said that there were clear directions from the PM Imran Khan to make improvements in health sector and ensure free treatment for deserving people.
He said that the government was paying special focus on primary health care as this area remained neglected in past.
Earlier, the minister reached the hospital without informing the hospital administration to personally know the exact situation of the hospital. He visited different departments of the hospital and examined the quality of services for patients.
He also received feedback from the patients and their attendants about the services being offered to them and expressed his sympathies with them on listening their problems.
He said that the management of hospital was striving to properly look after the patients despite limited resources. He said that there was a need to meet the shortage of hospital staff.
He observed that the services at PIMS emergency ward were not up to the mark due to patients’ burden and assured that things will improve in hospital in coming days.
