ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Retired Brigadier Ijaz Shah on Tuesday took oath as a federal minister of parliamentary affairs. President Arif Alvi administered the oath at Aiwan-e-Saddar in Islamabad.

Shah won the election from the constituency of NA-118 Nankana Sahib in the general elections 2018. He was a close aide of former president Pervez Musharraf and served as the director-general of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) from 2004 to 2008.

Last week, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to announce Shah s appointment by stating, "On the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the president has approved the appointment of Brigadier (rtd) Ijaz Shah as federal minister."

The strength of federal cabinet has expanded to 44 members, including five state ministers and 25 federal ministers.
