Fawad Ch demands apology from PPP leadership over attack on security personnel
We want mutual understanding but it doesnt mean the process of accountability should be stopped.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that the government wants mutual understanding but behaviour of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) is against the requirements of the law.
In response to the appearance of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari before an Investigation Team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he said that it is not possible to affect the investigation process by showing violent attitude against the state institutions, adding that those who have cases will have to face it.
“We want mutual understanding but it doesn’t mean the process of accountability should be stopped,” the minister said and added the state will fulfil its responsibility if limits were crossed.
The minister went on to say that Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto were summoned by the anti-graft watchdog for investigation where around 500 persons were gathered and unfortunately several PPP workers attacked the police in a bid to enter the Bureau’s premises.
Strongly condemning the behaviour of PPP’s die-hard workers, Chaudhry said that the PPP workers attacked police personnel. Subsequently, the police personnel retaliated by baton-charging and arresting some rowdy workers. The information minister said that this behaviour is against the law.
He demanded the PPP leadership to tender apology over clashing security officials outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office. “I hope that PPP and its leadership will tender an apology to the police and nation over the [violent] behaviour exhibited by the party workers.”
