ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Constituencies of over one crore voters are likely to change in January under Election Act.

According to details, the registration of voters on temporary or permanent address is compulsory. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given deadline till December 31 for transfer of the votes.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had postponed local body elections in tribal districts and decided to hold provincial assembly polls at first priority.

ECP had announced to start fresh delimitations across the country for local body elections as the polls cannot be held on old data after latest population census.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government wants to introduce such a local body system which can resolve problems of masses at the grass-roots level.
