ECP cancels notification to replace Punjab police chief

ECP had banned all kind of transfers and replacements in government departments till the by-polls

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday cancelled the federal government s notification to replace Punjab police chief Tahir Khan with Amjad Javed Saleem.

The notification was cancelled after Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (R) Sardar Muhammad Raza took notice of federal government s decision to replace Punjab police chief Tahir Khan.

Earlier today, Amjad Javed Saleemi, a BS-22 officer currently serving as Commandant in National Police Academy under Interior Division, was appointed as new Punjab Inspector General.

The ECP has sought reply from Punjab Chief Secretary regarding the replacement of the IGP. Establishment Division had also issued a notification in this regard.

It is pertinent to mention here that the ECP had banned all kind of transfers and replacements in government departments till the by-elections.
