Road traffic safety: Here is how E-Challan will be sent to violators?

It is indeed a reality now as with the help of cameras, traffic will be inspected scrupulously. It all was realized through the joint efforts of Punjab Safe City Authorities and City traffic police. Now that it is reality, people should know how this will work out.

Israr Khan in his report from Lahore interpolates the way through which E-Challan will be sent. The citizens should know the procedure. There are about 8000 cameras that are operational throughout the city. Monitoring will be done through their succor. Every bike, car, or any other vehicle will be checked to guarantee that all of them are following the traffic rules and regulations sternly.

It will be the workforce of Safe City Authority which will be having keen eye on the traffic violations and in case someone is found of breaking the law, his footage will be sent to the City traffic police that with the help of assistance of Excise Department will fetch the necessary information about the vehicle. The personal information of the person including the address will be identified and the electronic challan will be sent through courier. In case, the person avoids paying the fine, his bike or car may be confiscated.


Response from the citizens

On the other side, common man are delighted over the inception of this initiative as this would bring more strictness in following the road traffic laws in a country where around 15000 people dies annually on roads. This will also bring more discipline avoiding more accidents. Surveillance cameras working in the city have added some good in controlling the crimes, but they are yet to produce their utter productivity. To what extent they aid in curbing traffic violations, only time will tell, but this is for sure that owing to them, fear among the careless drivers will be evident.
