8th Muharram processions being held across country
Mobile phone services will remain suspended along the routes of Muharram processions.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Processions of 8th Muharram are being held across the country on Wednesday with due solemnity amid tight security.
The main procession is being taken out from Nishtar Park and will culminate at Imambargah Hussainia Irania in the evening.
Mobile phone service in all major cities of Sindh and other provinces will remain suspended on 8th, 9th and 10th of Muharram, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
According to Sindh Home Department, mobile phone services will remain suspended along the routes of Muharram processions and other sensitive installations from 7:00am till 12:00midnight in all major cities of the province.
Sindh Home Department further informed that the decision to suspend mobile phone service has been taken on the recommendation of law enforcement agencies.
In order to avoid any untoward incident, pillion riding has been banned by the department. The ban, effective from last night, will remain till Friday 10th of Muharram.
The Government of Sindh has made strict security arrangement for the safety of the participants of the procession and over 7000 police personnel, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies are deployed around the route of the procession.
