Railways minister seeks permission from PM for 23000 recruitments

(Dunya News) – Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid has on Saturday sought permission from Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan for recruiting as much as 23000 employees in his department.

He was addressing a presser here in Lahore today at Railways Headquarters.

Rashid told media personnel that filtration plants and tracking systems would be installed at all railway stations and trains respectively across country.

Rashid added his department would not launch operation against those living in slums.  


Railways losses case: Saad Rafique seeks one-month time to submit reply


Former minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday has sought one-month time to submit his response in a case pertaining to railways losses.

During the hearing, audit experts presented forensic report on the losses after which, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar immediately summoned Rafique.

On Saad’s appearance, CJP asked whether he has gone through the audit report over which, he said that how can he submit reply over 1000-page report as he is not an accountant.

What has been written in the report regarding me? Am I alleged of any corruption? he asked.

He said that he had tried to improve the department and took every possible step for it. "I am not here to be insulted. I had come to the court to be praised but all I had received was humiliation," remarked Rafique.

Meanwhile, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan directed the ex-minister to submit his response after which, the court will see if he deserves to be appreciated or not.

Moreover, the court adjourned the hearing for a month.
