Muharram Security: Pillion riding banned in Punjab for two days

Families, senior citizens, journalists and government officials have been exempted from the ban

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Home Department on Wednesday has imposed a ban on pillion riding across the province for a period of two days to thwart any untoward incident during Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to a notification issued on Wednesday, the ban on pillion riding has been imposed under Section 144 on Muharram 9 and 10.

Families, senior citizens, journalists and government officials have been exempted from the ban.

According to Dunya News sources, a total of 100 companies of the Pakistan Army and the Punjab Rangers will be deployed across Punjab for security during Muharram.

Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel would be deployed at the most sensitive places,

Punjab Home Department has sent a formal application to the concerned authorities for the deployment of army and Rangers companies.
