A division bench of IHC will start hearing of Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar's pleas against conviction today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday will start hearing the appeals of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt Mohammad Safdar against their conviction in the Avenfiled reference.

It is pertinent to mention here that the trial court record of the Avenfiled reference consists of 11,000 pages. The court in its previous hearing issued directions to NAB for preparing paper books for the appeals which should not exceed 100 pages each. Sources said that the work on preparing paper books is not finished yet.

On July 6, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in prison for holding assets beyond known sources of income. His daughter, Maryam, was handed a seven-year sentence for aiding and abetting him while her husband, Safdar, was sentenced to a year s imprisonment.

The sentence was given in Avenfield properties reference — one of the three references filed on the orders of the Supreme Court in Panamagate verdict.
