PAF Day observed with traditional fervour, dignity

PAF Day was observed across the country on Friday with traditional fervor and dignity.

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Pakistan Air Force (PAF) day was observed across the country on September 7 (Friday) with traditional fervor and dignity to pay tributes to martyrs who laid down their lives in defending the motherland during the Indo-Pak war in 1965.

This year, the Day was observed as Martyr Day at all PAF bases throughout the country and a ceremony was also held at Air Headquarters, Islamabad. Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, laid floral wreath and offered “Fateha” at the Martyrs’ Monument. Principal Staff Officers and a large number of Airmen attended the ceremony.

The Day started with special Du’aa and Quran Khawani for the Shuhada of 1965 and 1971 wars and those who laid down their lives before the evil designs of enemy.

Addressing the participants, the Air Chief said, “It is a matter of immense pride for all of us that we have gathered here to pay homage to our brave martyrs, who valiantly defended the motherland. Undoubtedly, the whole nation always remembers their great sacrifices and today’s ceremony is sincere recognition of their selfless services”.

The Chief of Air Staff said the sacrifices of our predecessors and the blood of our brave martyrs demand that we promote unity and harmony amongst us. “Moreover, we should play an active part in the progress of our country leaving behind all kinds of ethnic and religious differences”, he said.

He also said that Pakistan is our identity and we love our country from the core of our hearts and I am sure that soon Pakistan would emerge as a progressive and a developed country in the world.

A similar ceremony was held at Karachi, where a PAF contingent led by Air Vice Marshal Ahsan Rafiq , Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command offered “Fateha” and laid floral wreath at the grave of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed (Nishan-e- Haider) on behalf of Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The floral wreaths were also laid on the graves of PAF Shuhada throughout the country.
