Cabinet rises to 21 as PM Khan includes Khusro Bakhtiar

(Dunya News) – After a revised addition, the tally of federal cabinet has soared to 21 after PM Imran Khan on Saturday added Khusro Bakhtiar as minister of water.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry on popular micro-blogging website Twitter stated that premier has approved a 20-member cabinet comprising 15 ministers and five advisers.



As was anticipated, Asad Umar has been awarded ministry of finance whereas Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid has been declared as Khan’s Railways Minister.

Fawad Ch has been nominated minister of Information and Broadcasting Division. The former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister Pervez Khattak has been given portfolio of defence ministry.

Other the cabinet s members are Farogh Naseem (Law and Justice), Tariq Bashir Cheema (Safron), Shireen Mazari (Human Rights), Ghulam Sarwar Khan (Petroleum), Zubaida Jalal (Defence Production), Aamir Mehmood Kiyani (Health), Shah Mahmood Qureshi (Foreign Affairs), Fehmida Mirza (Inter Provincial Coordination), Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui (IT), Shafqat Mahmood (Education) and Noor ul Haq Qadri (Religious Affairs). 

Five advisers are Mohammad Shehzad, Ishrat Hussain, Abdul Razzak Dawood, Amin Aslam and Babar Awan.

Earlier, Imran Khan was sworn in as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan on Saturday in a simple ceremony hosted at the Aiwan-i-Sadr (President House) in Islamabad.

The event began as the trumpeters of the Presidential Guards played the arrival tune. Attired in a charcoal colored sherwani and white shalwar, Imran Khan entered the hall along with President Mamnoon Hussain and caretaker prime minister Justice (Retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk and went straight to the dais.

The national anthem was played and the Cabinet Secretary announced opening of the event with the recitation from the Holy Quran.

Tearful Khan smiled as he stumbled over some of the words of the oath administered to him by President Mamnoon Hussain.
