ECP withholds notification of Imran Khan's success from two constituencies

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday has halted victory notification of Imran Khan from two constituencies NA-53 Islamabad and NA-131 Lahore respectively.

As per details garnered, the electoral body has subjected victory notification from three constituencies NA-35 Bannu, NA-95 Mianwali and NA-243 Karachi to their final decision in case pertaining to violation of code of conduct. 

Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday barred the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from issuing notification of the PTI chairman’s success.

Announcing reserved verdict on PML-N leader’s plea, LHC ordered to recount votes in NA-131 Lahore constituency where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan defeated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on July 25 general election.

PTI on Monday has formally nominated party’s supremo Imran Khan as their candidate for next Prime Minister of Pakistan.

A parliamentary meeting was held at a private hotel in Islamabad during which, Shah Mehmood Qureshi presented a resolution nominating Imran as their PM candidate after which, PTI chief was welcomed with a huge applause.
