SC orders to appoint Saleem Baig as PEMRA chairman within two days

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday directed appointment of Mohammad Saleem Baig as Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman within two days.
As per details acquired, a notification in this regard will be issued within two days.
During hearing, prosecution lawyer raised objections on eligibility of Baig on aforementioned post. To this, member of scrutiny committee told the country’s top court that out of 100 applicants, only 20 were shortlisted.
He continued that Baig topped the merit list. To this, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar observed that scrutiny committee was constituted to drill unbiased candidate for the post of PEMRA chairman.
Later, objections on appointment of Baig as PEMRA chairman were quashed and decision of committee was upheld.
