Inspiring female duo set to soar new heights
The two shared their experiences in a recently surfaced conversation with PIA.
(WebDesk) - Captain Maryam Masood and First Officer Shumaila Mazhar have become one of the much talked female duo of the recent past. The two have become the first ever duo to fly a plane completely instructed and guided by women alone.

In their latest surfaced conversation, the celebrated female PIA officials expressed gratitude over the fact that they were selected ahead of their male counterparts based purely on merit. Regarding the experience, Captain Maryam said: “The acknowledgement I got from the public after completing the flight to northern areas cannot be put into words. It was indeed one of the most intriguing experiences of my life”
“Females can do anything they want. When I joined PIA, I was the 4th female to do so but now times have changed. I don’t think there is any field right now in Pakistan where females are not actively participating, and aviation is definitely one of them. They can easily do this too”, expressed Maryam.
“It took me quite some time to convince my family but it was definitely worth it in the end. At first they thought I was joking but somehow I made my way to where I am today. I was also very lucky to be instructed by wonderful leaders who helped me unconditionally”, Shumaila revealed.
The story of the duo may seem just like any other but the feel of empowerment and joy one gets is second to none. This is definitely one of those anecdotes that has the ability to inspire the rest who are still unsure of what they should do and how they should do it.
