Political giants kick off election drives amid soaring mercury

General elections 2018 will be held on July-25.

(Dunya News) – As political temperature soars across country ahead of general elections 2018, political giants including Imran Khan, Sheikh Rashid and Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi have kicked off their elections drives respectively.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has started their election campaign for the General Elections 2018 from Mianwali.

 

Unveiling his election manifesto, Khan vowed to strengthen institutions including anti-graft watchdog NAB and FIA.

 

Citing plummeting economic indicators, Khan apprised attendants that dollar had surged to Rs125 whereas country’s debt burden had augmented to Rs27000 bln.

Taking jibe at main political foe Nawaz Sharif, Khan warned Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo that PTI was leaving no stone unturned to put him in Adiala Jail.


Sheikh Rashid


Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed early Sunday started his general election 2018 campaign on motorcycle in Rawalpindi.

As per details, Sheikh Rasheed visited his area, roads and streets on motorcycle and met people face to face.

While talking to media, the AML chief said that no one can buy loyalties of Pindi public. He also expressed his plan to run a ‘cycle campaign’ during last ten days.

It is pertinent to remember that AML chief Sheikh Rasheed is contesting election from NA-60 and NA-62.


Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi


Ex-prime minister Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi has initiated his election drive from Kahuta but matters did not go well as fumed residents chanted ‘Go-Abbasi-Go’ slogans upon his arrival.

As per details garnered, the estranged party workers surrounded Abbasi’s vehicle and raised slogans against Abbasi.

The angry protesters scolded Abbasi over not keeping his promises pertaining to availability of gas and extending road networks.

On the other hand, former premier regretted delay while urging protesters at the same to show patience as several uplift projects were in the last phase of their completion.

Earlier, Abbasi was left flabbergasted when he saw banners against him in his constituency.
