ISPR DG urges not to drag security forces in politics

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major Gen Asif Ghafoor on Monday reiterated that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be mistaken as weakness.

“India violated ceasefire over 2000 times in the past 13 years. From 2013 till now, 48 people have been martyred [due to Indian unprovoked firing]”, stated ISPR DG.

“Pakistan has always displayed responsible behavior. India mostly targets civilian population [along LoC and working boundary] whereas befitting reply is served [by Pakistani forces] to each provocation. Pakistan wants to abide by ceasefire truce”, asserted ISPR DG.


On Afghanistan issue


The army spokesperson revealed that meeting between Army Chief General Bajwa and and Afghan delegation was fruitful and it was agreed upon that both countries were indispensible for each other.

“Nobody wishes peace in Afghanistan more than Pakistan”, stated ISPR DG while stressing on political solution for war-torn country.

Gen Asif Ghafoor further went on to say that Pakistan desires respectable repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan.

He also mentioned that seven Pakistani officers had been martyred in 71 incidents of firing from across the Afghan border in May alone.

ISPR DG revealed that he had held meeting with both Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar. The media wing spokesperson stated that issues were resolved whereas the latter forwarded a message thanking army on facilitating them.

ISPR DG stated that at least 100 fake social media accounts were created in Afghanistan aimed at promoting negative propaganda against Pakistan armed forces. “Myriad allegations were hurled at us in the past few years and they were proved wrong. We [Pakistan armed forces] are fighting war for Pakistan. Not even a single army including that of super power has won War on Terror (WoT). Only Pakistan army has registered success”, ISPR DG apprised media personnel.


On General polls 2018


ISPR DG stated that army has no role to play in conducting elections. He stressed on not to drag security forces in election campaigns.

“"2018 is a year of changes. Army will play its role as per constitution if it is summoned”, stated ISPR DG.
