Karachi's heatwave reported to claim over 60 lives

(Dunya News) –With Karachi struck by heatwave and temperatures expected to soar to 43 degree Celsius, deaths in the city due to heat stroke are also on the rise.
The rising temperatures are setting a new test for Karachiites as the meteorological department continues to issue advisory in the sweltering heat.
Deaths due to heatstroke were reported in various parts of the city raising concerns among the people.
According to Faisal Edhi, on Monday, 160 bodies were brought in Edhi’s morgue most of which were brought into Landi Korangi’s morgue. According to Edhi, out of these, 64 were due to heat stroke as per the families of the deceased.
On the other hand, Sindh’s Secretary Health, Dr. Fazlullah Pechuho has denied claims of deaths due to heat stroke. Furthermore, Dr. Pechuho stated that no heat stroke case has been admitted in any of the government hospitals so far.
Pechuho elaborated that heat stroke is caused due to the rise of humidity in the atmosphere, which has not been the case lately.
