CJP directed to launch investigation against those involved in power theft.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday has directed to inform about the electricity load shedding situation in Karachi till May 20.

During the hearing in Supreme Court (SC) Karachi registry, CJP Nisar asked K-Electric Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tayyab Tareen that you are not providing electricity to the citizens, what will people do in Ramazan?

The top judge said that media is daily covering this matter. People are deprived of electricity, there must be a backup system to deal with technical glitches, he added.

Justice Saqib also reprimanded Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) Chief Executive and threatened that if load shedding won’t end, then electricity of his house will be cut for 12 hours and that he will also not be facilitated with generator.

Moreover, CJP directed to launch investigation against those involved in power theft. 

Several localities of Latifabad are without electricity for the past few days as transformer in the area is out of order.

Residents of the area have repeatedly requested HESCO employees for change of the transformers. Getting no positive response from HESCO officials, the residents also staged a protest.
