ECP summons applications from political parties for electoral symbols

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday said that the political parties not issuing tickets to women on five percent seats would not be able to contest general elections.

The ECP said that election symbols would not be issued to the parties not issuing tickets to women on five percent seats.

The ECP further said that submitting intra-party elections results and statements is also mandatory.

It directed all political parties to submit details until May 15 and summoned applications from political parties for electoral symbols.

The commission further challenged Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) verdict nullifying ban on appointments and development funds until general elections in the Supreme Court (SC).
